Weekend Halfpipe Showdown At Hunter

This coming weekend, Hunter Mountain will host their final CMS events of the season, with back-to-back Halfpipe competitions on Saturday and Sunday. Originally the mountain wanted to hold a BX/SX event on Saturday, but with concerns about the weather, the decision was made to move the event to Plattekill for next Saturday, and to hold a double Halfpipe session instead.

In a ground breaking move over the weekend, Hunter Mountain unveiled a new triple threat staircase rail as the capstone to an amazing season-long transformation to their terrain park. The Hunter Mountain park staff, lead by Mike Valez, worked throughout the night building what could be considered the crown jewel of features available in the Catskills.

Catamount Boardercross/Skiercross

It was a beautiful blue sky day this past Saturday at Catamount for our 2nd Boardercross/Skiercross event of the season. Conditions were perfect for this head-to-head showdown on the slopes, with many riders from the Mid Atlantic Series showing up to throw their hats in the ring. After a day of intense competition, the CMS team pulled away in the medal count, with many of the races being won at the finish line.

Fresh on the heels of the Red Bull Future of Snowboarding event in NYC this past weekend, the CMS crew wrapped up their alpine events for the season and logged another round in Halfpipe competitions.

Despite a cold, dreary start to the day with slight rain and heavy winds, the Slalom event at Hunter Mountain on Sunday went off without a hitch. This ends the battle for the CMS tour leader spots in both the slalom and giant slalom events, and names the athletes for the CMS National Alpine Team.
