Opening Ceremonies at Copper Mountain

From all across the United States, 32 regions have gathered at the 23rd Annual USASA National Championships of Snowboarding and Freestyle Skiing at Copper Mountain. Over 1,600 competitors are taking part in the largest snowboard and ski event of the world. For the first time, USASA will be breaking up competitors for skiing and snowboarding events to allow for growth. The Catskill Mountain Series has qualified competitors in all five disciplines (slopestyle, halfpipe, boardercross, slalom, and giant slalom) and we wish everyone luck that they can showcase their best talents in the next few days. Check out some pictures from the Opening Ceremonies last night right here!

Woodward Camp USASA Summit underway

Here are some pictures of Camp Woodward with all it's perks.

The 4th annual USASA fall summit is underway at Camp Woodward, PA. The staff at USASA is working hard to educate series directors, judges, tabulators and technical supervisor to ensure safe and fun events across the nation for this coming winter season. The first snow has fallen in many regions of the country and we are looking forward to the first CMS events in December. Members of the Catskill Mountain Series staff are taking part in several different seminars and during their free time they get to take advantage of this premier action sports facility.

Catskill Mountain Series

The first Slopestyle event of the season took place in Hunter Mountain’s Park Avenue terrain park. Mike Valez and his park crew (local Bozwreck crew) built a jump line that consisted of a flat box, to a medium table jump, to an option of flat box or a flat down rail or a corrugated pipe/log jam, to a large table (with a smaller option), to an even larger jump (also with a smaller option), to the NIKE 6.0 car (a multi option box feature). These six features made a wide variety of runs possible and over 75 athletes showed up in -4 degree weather.

The Hunter Mountain Halfpipe Finals marks the end of the regular season, with only event remaining and Nationals just around the corner. We want to thank Hunter Mountain and the park staff on a job well done through out the year. We look forward to returning next year with bigger and better events.
