KIND presents the KINDEST Rider Award

This year at USASA Nationals KIND will be awarding one snowboarder and one skier from each series with the KINDest Rider Award.

How do you bring kindness to life on your mountain and in your series? This season KIND is asking you to share the kindness both on and off the hill by doing not so random acts of kindness. Based on recommendations from your Series Directors, one skier and one snowboarder from each series will be nominated as the "KINDest Rider" and will be awarded at USASA Nationals in Copper Mountain, CO.

So, sharpen up your "please & thank yous", get your arms ready to carry gear for others, and prepare to support your fellow competitors and teammates every day of the season. You can only go so big in the Superpipe, but kindness is limitless.

Global Rescue discounted rates for USASA members

Global Rescue recommended for traveling athletes

There is nothing more important to us at the USASA than the health and safety of our athletes. Although equipment is better designed, and we take extensive safety precautions, accidents do happen. This is why we have partnered with Global Rescue to offer their services at a special member rate to USASA athletes and families.

Typical medical insurance does not cover emergency medical evacuation; it covers hospital and doctor costs once you are in a hospital. These evacuations can often cost hundreds of thousands of dollars.

USASA names Michael Mallon new Executive Director

The United States of America Snowboard and Freeski Association announced that Michael Mallon will lead the USASA as the new Executive Director. The USASA was founded in 1988 by former amateur surf coach Chuck Allen with a $500 donation from Transworld Snowboard Magazine. In 27 years the USASA has gone on to help support and encourage the youth of snowboarding and freeskiing and is one of the largest organizations of its kind in the world with over 5000 members.
Mallon’s appointment came during the 2016 National Championships held at Copper Mtn. with over 1800 skiers and snowboarders competing over twelve days. Mike’s leadership and experience has the USASA poised to continue the momentum through the summer and into next year.

Mike began his relationship with the USASA in 1995 as a coach for the USASA Junior National team. As a team coach and organizer he hosted all-inclusive training camps each season, and attended five ISF Junior Worlds Championships and three Topolino events with the USASA.
