The Catskill Mountain Series will be hosting the Jason Evans / Bob Basil Boardercross & Skiercross Camp on March 28, 2010 at Windham Mountain.

Jason Evans is a Winter X Games Silver Medalist, 5-time National Tour Champion, former North American Halfpipe Champion, 2-time US Open Halfpipe podium winner and holds over 12 National event gold medals in Boardercross. In 1998, the Olympic birth year for snowboarding, he missed making the US Olympic Halfpipe Team before making the switch to Boardercross full time in 1999. He has had Pro models with Nidecker Snowboards, Flight Snowboards and Elan Snowboards. Jason started his own snowboard team called the SNOSK8RS out of Southern Vermont.  The team came complete with the first ever snowboard tour bus equipped with state-of-the-art board tuning equipment that also towed a car trailer with two snowmobiles for backcountry access. Now retired from competition and a father of two, Jason coaches both elite and top regional athletes out of his home resort in Southern Vermont. He spends time grooming the Halfpipe for the famed Mount Snow Carinthia Park (Dew Tour & Rev Tour stops) and hosts Boardercross Camps with his former manager/coach and United States of America Snowboard Association’s Series Director, Bob Basil.

Bob Basil is from the Catskill Mountains of New York and after hosting the American Snowboard Tour at Hunter Mountain in 1995, moved to Vermont to continue hosting the AST and other nationally televised events for Mount Snow. Bob then joined forces with Jason and became the Agent / Tour Manager / Coach for the new SNOSK8RS Team. He coached Jason through his 5 National Boardercross titles and the Winter X Games win. Bob moved back to the Catskills to help snowboarding & freesking grow in the New York region. He started the USASA Catskill Mountain Series which fosters youth development and gives regional professionals a path toward their goals and ultimately the Olympics. Participation in USASA events has a clear, definable future, as all American snowboard Olympians have been USASA athletes prior to making the team. His position on the USASA National Board has helped him understand the need for fun, safe and educational outlets for young athletes to learn the new Olympic disciplines of Boardercross and Ski Cross.

Eric Lenseth will be on-hand as the Skiercross coach for the Camp. Eric grew up skiing at Windham Mountain and is a product of the Windham Mountain race program. He raced with Windham’s program for eight years. Following his racing career, Eric began coaching junior racers. In the summer months he races mountain bikes, competing in downhill and 4x racing. 4x racing is like skiercross/boardercross on a mountain bike. Eric is now the special events manager at Windham and is excited to help grow the sport of Skiercross.

Fresh off the second showing of Boardercross and the debut of Ski Cross in the 2010 Winter Olympics, the Catskill Mountain Series is excited to host the second Boardercross Camp and first Skiercross Camp in the East Coast at Windham Mountain.

The Camp includes individualized coaching, waxing/tuning clinic, stretching session, warm-up runs, course inspection session, at-speed in-course training runs, video analysis, breakfast, lunch, photographer, and a camp T-shirt.

The Camp will take place at Windham Mountain on March 28, 2010, 7am – 5pm and is $150 per rider ($36 lift ticket not included.) Space is limited, so sign up now to guarantee your spot.
